Squirrel Launcher launched on January 4, 2023 as a free-to-play game and received a series of patches and feature updates throughout 2023. On January 4, 2024 — the game's one-year anniversary — the developer released update 1.1.5, which added a final new level. Alongside that update, the developer explicitly stated: "This marks the end of my semi-continuous work on Squirrel Launcher... I don't plan on adding any more new levels." They also indicated they would only return to fix bugs if problems are found, not to add content. A hotfix (1.1.6) followed the same day to correct a leaderboard issue, consistent with that bug-fix-only commitment. The developer has been transparent and consistent: the game's content is complete as of January 4, 2024.
