Star Control: Origins launched on September 20, 2018, and received a substantial post-launch content cycle through the Earth Rising expansion — a four-part season pass. The final installment, Earth Rising Part 4: Earth Rises, shipped on March 12, 2020, at which point the developer explicitly described the complete expansion as "fully available and ready to play." All four DLC entries in the store listing are marked as released, and the Earth Rising season pass is complete with all parts delivered.
Since the expansion concluded, Stardock has continued to release quality-of-life and maintenance updates. A significant visual overhaul (v1.6) arrived on December 8, 2022, and most recently, the v1.7 update on May 20, 2025 brought gameplay adjustments and expanded localization support for German, Chinese, French, Spanish, and other languages. These updates reflect ongoing maintenance and polish, but no new story content, DLC, or expansion has been announced or released since March 2020.
The developer has not announced any further content plans for Star Control: Origins. The game's content — the base campaign and the complete Earth Rising expansion — is fully delivered. Stardock's attention has visibly shifted to other titles such as Sins of a Solar Empire II, which launched in August 2024. Star Control: Origins is a complete, polished product that continues to receive occasional maintenance updates.

A Vast Universe
