Evaluation
Steel Assault launched on September 28, 2021 as a complete, self-contained retro action platformer. Shortly after launch, the developer shipped one meaningful post-launch update on November 24, 2021: a difficulty rebalance patch alongside the release of the game's soundtrack as a free DLC. A handful of bug-fix patches followed through March 2022, addressing minor issues in the base game.
The DLC list contains only the soundtrack (released November 24, 2021) — there are no unreleased DLC entries, no season pass, and no announced expansions. The store description presents the game as a finished arcade-style experience with no mention of ongoing content.
Since March 2022, there have been no further updates to Steel Assault itself. The developer's attention has shifted to their next project: on September 14, 2024, Zenovia Interactive announced a new game called Neon Inferno, and on December 18, 2025, they posted to celebrate that game's launch and a bundle promotion. These posts confirm the studio is alive and active, but they also confirm that Steel Assault's development has concluded — the developer's resources are now fully committed to Neon Inferno. No future content for Steel Assault has been announced or hinted at.
Steel Assault launched as a finished product in the tradition of classic arcade games, received a small round of post-launch polish, and is now complete.
Evidence
Post-launch update added difficulty rebalancing and released the soundtrack as free DLC — the last substantive content update for the game.
