Evaluation

Steel Storm: Burning Retribution launched on May 11, 2011 and received two paid DLC packs: the Weapon Pack on November 16, 2011 and the Forgotten Prison DLC on September 24, 2013. Both are fully released with no unreleased DLC listed on the store. The developer was actively posting updates through mid-2015, with the last known communication being a feature patch on July 1, 2015 that added Steam trading cards and a round of bug fixes and engine updates. A June 12, 2015 post mentioned ideas for a "free DLC that will serve as testing grounds for new gameplay mechanics," but this was a casual, speculative comment — no such DLC was ever announced, named, or listed on the store. Given that no follow-up was ever made and the developer went silent after July 1, 2015, this offhand remark was never developed into a concrete commitment. There have been no developer communications of any kind since July 1, 2015 — nearly 11 years before today's date of June 28, 2026. The developer's attention during 2014–2015 appeared to shift substantially toward a separate project (Phaeton / Storm Engine 2), and Steel Storm received no further updates after the July 2015 patch. With both DLC packs released, no unreleased content on the store, no post-launch update pattern continuing beyond 2015, and over a decade of silence, the game is best understood as a complete, finished product.
