Step By Step launched on October 6, 2023 and received a handful of patches in the weeks following release. On November 10, 2023, the developer shipped update 1.1, a substantial update adding three new game modes (Extreme, Locked Jump, and Practice) along with new leaderboards and achievements. A $5,000 challenge was also announced alongside this update. Further bug-fix and feature patches followed through early 2024.
On February 3, 2024, the developer posted patch 1.1.2 and stated it would be "the final patch of the game (except for new content)," signaling the base game was considered stable.
Then, on April 3, 2024, the developer announced a milestone incentive: if the game sold 1,000 copies (it was at approximately 600 at the time), a free DLC map would be created. This was described as a bonus challenge map with especially punishing difficulty.
Since that April 3, 2024 post, the developer has not communicated publicly. It is unknown whether the 1,000-copy sales threshold was reached, and if so, whether the promised DLC map was ever produced. Over 14 months have passed since the last developer post with no update, patch, or announcement of any kind. The outstanding conditional commitment to a free DLC map — combined with this prolonged silence — means the current status of future content cannot be confirmed.

Step By Step is a platformer where you can't stop running. Utilize different running speeds, jump heights, and bounce off of Powerwalls to maneuver around obstacles and reach the top of the map! Enjoy the climb with friends or by yourself. But be careful, as some jumps are more punishing than others...
Challenging, yet addictive gameplay!
While you can't stop running forward, hold the Slow key or the Fast key to adjust your running speed, and hit a wall to turn around (whether you want to or not). In addition, encounter fun modifiers like Powerwalls which allow you to kick off of a wall with a massive boost of speed! Make precise jumps over treacherous areas by yourself or with friends. And with hand-drawn art, you'll navigate the map through beautiful environments with colorful animations and effects!
Don't fear the fall...
Whether you get distracted or make a mistake, falling will be unavoidable. With no checkpoints and instant autosave, you'll be forced to work your way back up to attempt a jump again. Some falls are small and won't punish you, while some are less forgiving. But fear not! The difficulty starts easy and increases over time, meaning the game is available to players of all skill levels! You'll hone your skills near the bottom so that you can overcome the obstacles above. As you near the top, the adrenaline and excitement you'll feel will be unlike any game you've played before!
