Stronghold: Definitive Edition is a remastered re-release of the original Stronghold, launched on November 7, 2023. The game's title and store positioning clearly mark it as a definitive/complete edition of a classic title. Prior to launch, Firefly Studios published a post-release roadmap (November 3, 2023) committing to two major free updates and two paid DLC campaigns. The studio followed through entirely: a free economic campaign and the first paid DLC, 'Swine's Bay,' shipped on February 13, 2024, and the second paid DLC, 'Valley of the Wolf,' shipped on April 30, 2024 — completing the planned roadmap. On February 1, 2024, the studio published a development status post reaffirming their support plans through 2024 and beyond, but all specifically committed content from that roadmap has since shipped. Both DLC entries are listed as released in the store with no unreleased entries remaining. The most recent update to this game was a March 17, 2026 security and soundtrack patch (v1.34), which addressed a Unity Engine vulnerability and added a newly remastered soundtrack — a maintenance update rather than new content. There have been no announcements of additional DLC or major updates for this title since the roadmap was fulfilled. Firefly Studios' attention has clearly shifted: Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition launched in July 2025 with its own post-launch roadmap and content updates, and Stronghold 4 was officially announced on June 8, 2026. These are separate products; the original Stronghold: Definitive Edition's planned content cycle is complete.
