Evaluation
Sumoman launched on March 28, 2017 after four years of development. Following launch, the developer released several bug-fix and maintenance patches through July 2017, along with Mac OS support added in May 2017. There is no post-launch major content or DLC — the game shipped as a complete, self-contained puzzle platformer. By May 2018, the developer had publicly shifted focus to their next game, BE-A Walker, and by September 2020 announced yet another new project, Dissident: Frostland Escape. The last Sumoman-specific communication was a 2019 anniversary post celebrating two years of the game. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmaps, and no outstanding content commitments. The game launched as a finished product and has received no major content additions.

A young Sumoman is returning home from a sumo tournament only to find his fellow countrymen in a dramatic peril. Someone has enchanted the inhabitants of the island, putting them into an eternal slumber. Our clumsy, yet fearless hero starts his journey across the beautiful, ancient Japan to find the source of the magical dream. He will have to overcome puzzling contraptions and threatening surroundings in order to break the dream spell and wake up the charmed people. Sumoman makes no haste, however, because nothing would be worse for our noble hero than to fall over and lie helplessly.
