Sunday Rivals launched out of Early Access on May 16, 2022 and has received a steady stream of updates since then, including two named major content updates: the Record Book Update (August 29, 2022) and The Big Game Update (March 16, 2023). Feature patches arrived in November 2022, December 2023, November 2025, and January 2026.
The most telling signal comes from the November 9, 2025 update post, where the solo developer explicitly wrapped up with: "I want to thank yall for making Sunday Rivals a success and I truly hope you've enjoyed playing it as much as I did making it. And who knows, maybe in another 2 years I'll update it again out of the blue." This is a clear farewell tone — not a promise of ongoing content, but a fond send-off with only a tongue-in-cheek, speculative mention of a future update. The developer then redirected players toward their next game, Killer Aces Volleyball, asking for wishlists and framing future work as being on that title rather than Sunday Rivals.
