SUPERHOT VR launched on May 25, 2017 and received a strong run of post-launch updates. The most meaningful content addition was the "Boxing Day" update on December 10, 2020, which added a free holiday-themed endless game mode with a new scoring system and leaderboards. Prior to that, the Arcade Edition was introduced in 2019, along with various feature patches including Valve Index finger-tracking support (June 2019) and a Mindwave overhaul (December 2019).
After December 2020, activity wound down to maintenance only: a February 2022 patch fixed an achievement and introduced a launcher. Following that, the game went silent for over four years — until September 15, 2026, when the developer shipped Patch 1.70 to prepare the game for the Steam Frame platform. This patch is a technical and quality-of-life update (graphics improvements, audio engine changes, controller tracking refinements, Steam Cloud support), explicitly described as platform-readiness work rather than new content. Notably, the developer confirmed that the legacy OVR version will remain available but "won't be further supported," signaling a platform transition rather than a content expansion.
No new story content, game modes, or DLC have been announced. The developer stated explicitly in July 2020 that there are no plans to bring MIND CONTROL DELETE to VR. The September 2026 patch is consistent with ongoing platform maintenance, not a return to content development. The game's content has been complete since the Boxing Day update on December 10, 2020.
