About this game

A campus where you learn by playing

Sur Le Fil (SLF to its friends) is a free 3D educational game mixing science, history and humor. Prof Fil teaches, Kelhann, a mischievous little lightbulb, goes on missions, and you learn by doing: you draw, write, calculate and wire.

What you learn

  • Math: the four operations, signed numbers, decimals, fractions (simplify, add, subtract, multiply, divide) and telling the time.

  • Geometry, in the Pythagorean Room: ruler, compass, set square and protractor; angles, parallel lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, perimeter and area, all the way to the circle.

  • Handwriting, in the Scriptorium: lowercase, uppercase and punctuation, read by a convolutional neural network (CNN) that learns your handwriting.

  • Electricity: current, Ohm's law, power, then real circuits in the ElectroLab, on an electronics simulator that computes every current, plus a sandbox to build whatever you like.

  • Programming: Robert, a robot you drive with its own little language.

  • History of science: a balloon trip to meet Alessandro Volta, the inventor of the battery.

  • Matter, in the Experimentarium: what the world is made of.

How you learn

  • Spoken lessons with Prof Fil and Kelhann.

  • The Grading Den: more than forty corrected exercises, assisted at first, then free or timed.

  • MathAttack, a mental math tower defense: push back the Pluss, the Minus and the Mults with additions, subtractions and multiplication tables.

  • The adventure map, which shows what each lesson unlocks next.

Good to know

  • Free, no ads, no loot boxes.

  • Designed for ages 8 to 15, open to anyone curious.

  • Languages: English, French, Spanish, German and Brazilian Portuguese. The Scriptorium is available in English and French.

  • In Early Access. Coming next: algebra, the capacitor, the LED, the multimeter and mechanics.

  • Made solo by AngeloStudio.
