Tank Team left Early Access on April 11, 2024 and is free to play, with an optional paid Full Version add-on released on June 11, 2024. The developer's most recent content update was Version 1.07 on September 13, 2024, which added a Zombies game mode. In a September 11, 2024 post, the developer said a Steam festival was likely their last chance to keep developing the game full time. Their October 3, 2025 post said the update contained no new content, as it fixed a Unity security issue, and that they plan to return to the game at some point for a massive rework with no timeline given, while focusing on another project to become financially stable. The most recent post, dated October 10, 2026, is a security warning about a malicious third party targeting player accounts. The developer says they have contacted Steam about a fix and may permanently disable Workshop maps if needed, and the post mentions an upcoming announcement of a Tank Team 2. No later post has addressed the financial concerns raised in 2024 and 2025, and no date has been set for the planned rework.
