Tankenstein launched into Early Access on November 13, 2025. Since then, Landship Games has maintained a consistent and active development cadence. The first major post-launch update, version 0.2 "Survival Update," shipped on March 12, 2026, introducing a save system via in-world garages, new abilities, and significant UI improvements. This was followed by feature patches in May and June 2026 as work on the "Wasteland" update progressed. The Wasteland update itself shipped in two parts: a gameplay and balance-focused patch (0.2.5) in May 2026, and the full environment overhaul (Update 0.3) on August 25, 2026, which added a new desert biome, an entirely new terrain generation system, destructible environments, and more. On September 3, 2026, the developer released a hotfix (0.3.1) and simultaneously announced that the next major update — called "Warfare" — is already in the works. The developer has communicated throughout development that the game is progressing toward a 1.0 release, and has previously noted that the endgame system is a temporary placeholder pending a dedicated future milestone update. Development is clearly ongoing and active.
