Evaluation

Terminal 81 launched on July 28, 2023 as a self-contained indie horror/simulation game. Following release, the developer shipped a series of feature patches and quality-of-life improvements through late 2023, including translation overhauls and gameplay system refinements. In a retrospective post on May 30, 2024, the developer acknowledged the game's strong reception, apologized for not being able to deliver a DLC or major update, and revealed they had a sequel script written but were occupied with another project first. This was an honest signal that no additional content was coming to Terminal 81 itself. True to that word, a sequel — Terminal 81R — was announced on December 8, 2024 and released on March 6, 2025. The developer's energy shifted entirely to that new title. The final post on the original Terminal 81's page, dated October 4, 2025, was a security patch addressing a Unity engine vulnerability (CVE-2025-59489), a purely maintenance update with no content implications. There is no announced or unreleased DLC for Terminal 81, no roadmap for future updates, and the developer has explicitly moved on to the sequel. The game launched and was supported as a complete, finite experience, and the developer has confirmed — both by statement and by action — that the content story for this game is closed.

About this game

Terminal 81 is an indie job simulation, mystery, and psychological horror game with retro visual aesthetics. The game takes place in 2008, in a fictitious neighborhood in the city of São Paulo, in Brazil.

As a result of the global financial crisis of 2008, Lorena made the decision to emigrate to the large and wealthy city of São Paulo in order to find work to help her family. Lorena easily managed to get a job in a supermarket, what she did not know is that the neighborhood where she would work was Terminal 81, an old industrial neighborhood plagued by poverty, crime, and filth.

During her stay at Terminal 81, Lorena learns that a group of young women have been kidnapped. Upon exploring the neighborhood and meeting its inhabitants, she realizes that the reality of Terminal 81 is much darker than it seems. What seemed like a simple Latin American neighborhood, with all the bad things that this entails, it is a dangerous area dominated by a mysterious "criminal organization" that carries out murders, prostitution, and human trafficking.

Explore Terminal 81, meet the characters, follow your moral compass, make decisions, and come to a conclusion.
