The Bloodline is an actively developed Early Access open-world RPG from solo developer Milo at Shieldbearer Studios. The game entered Early Access on October 5, 2023, and has since received a consistent stream of major content updates — 8 in total through the data available, with the most recent being the Company of Thieves update on August 6, 2026.
The developer published a detailed roadmap on December 11, 2025, laying out a clear sequence of upcoming updates. As of August 19, 2026, the roadmap items that have shipped include: the Kingdom 1 Rework, Mage's College Update (January 29, 2026), Armorsmithing Update (March 5, 2026), Elemental Rebirth Update (May 26, 2026), and Company of Thieves Update (August 6, 2026). Still outstanding from the roadmap are: the Sunbrand Legion Update, Sands of Renewal (Kingdom 2 expansion), Warrior's Foundry (complete melee skill tree overhaul), Ranger's Arsenal (complete ranged skill tree overhaul), and The Unforgiven Update (endgame content featuring the invasion storyline). The developer noted in the Mage's College update (January 2026) that a Ranger's Arsenal update would follow future bow/crossbow feedback, and the June 2025 announcement confirmed Kingdom 3 was already in development.
Milo has been transparent throughout development, explaining personal delays (illness in early 2025, a new child expected as of May 2026) while consistently resuming work and delivering updates. The June 2025 announcement confirmed that 1.0 will only ship when the game reaches the quality bar Milo is aiming for. Communication has been frequent and candid, and the update cadence — roughly one major content drop every 2–3 months — remains active and on-pattern.
The game is clearly mid-development with significant content still to come before reaching 1.0.
Evidence
