The Case of the Golden Idol

The Case of the Golden Idol launched on October 13, 2022 and received two paid DLC expansions: Golden Idol Mysteries: The Spider of Lanka (May 4, 2023) and Golden Idol Mysteries: The Lemurian Vampire (August 31, 2023). Both DLCs are released, and the store listing shows no unreleased DLC. The developer has not announced any further expansions or content planned for this game. In October 2024, the developer shipped a free "Redux" update adding UI improvements, a hint system, 12 localizations, and Steam Deck support — a quality-of-life overhaul rather than new story content. The developer explicitly noted this update "features no new playable cases or scenarios." The developer's focus has since shifted to the standalone sequel, The Rise of the Golden Idol, which launched on November 12, 2024. Developer communications in 2024 and into 2026 have been primarily about the sequel, mobile re-releases of the original game, and platform availability — not new story content for this title. The most recent news post (February 6, 2026) announces a mobile re-release and briefly addresses the sequel's mobile status ("We're working on it!"), but this refers to The Rise of the Golden Idol's mobile version, not new content for this game. All DLC for The Case of the Golden Idol has shipped, no further expansions have been announced, and the developer's active development focus has moved to the sequel. The game's content is complete as of the second DLC release on August 31, 2023.
