Evaluation

The Deadseat launched on May 14, 2025, with a Main Campaign and Hard Mode. The developer shipped a major update on June 15, 2025 — Challenge Mode — adding 10 challenges, cosmetic options, new lore, difficulty presets, and achievements. A refinement patch followed on June 16, 2025. In that same June 15, 2025 post, the developer explicitly stated: "Aside from patches, this will likely be the only major content update to 'The Deadseat' for now. We are moving back onto our much larger game... 'Feed The Pit'." This is a clear developer statement signaling the end of major content development for The Deadseat. The previous assessment flagged a Multiplayer mod and VR mod teased in the July 21, 2025 Steam Workshop post as planned content. On closer reading, these were fan-made mods being developed by a community member ("DumbBird"), not content planned by the developer themselves. The developer did not commit to shipping these — they were listing what a third-party modder had in the works. This does not constitute developer-announced content. The most recent developer communication is the August 6, 2026 news post announcing the launch of their next game, Feed The Pit. This post makes no mention of returning to The Deadseat for additional content, and reinforces that the studio's full focus has shifted to Feed The Pit. The developer also noted in that post that Feed The Pit was the primary project for two years, and that The Deadseat originated as a side project within that same universe. Taken together, the developer's own June 15, 2025 statement that Challenge Mode would "likely be the only major content update," combined with the studio's confirmed pivot to Feed The Pit, indicates The Deadseat is a complete, finished product. The game shipped as a short, self-contained horror experience with a defined content set: Main Campaign, Hard Mode, and Challenge Mode.

About this game

You are in the backseat of your parent's car during a long drive. As your parents begin fighting, your hand-held game is your only source of entertainment. But the game begins to mirror real life... Collect items on your hand-held game to send them to your world, and use them to defend against the monstrosity that's trying to make its way in.

The Deadseat includes a terrifying, short Main Campaign, and a Hard Mode which continues the story at a horrifying level of difficulty.

Survive The Night Drive

Your drive home from grandma's is interrupted by an unexpected detour. Play a hand-held game in the backseat as your parent's drive.

Retro Gaming

Your hand-held game is beginning to mirror reality... Supplies you collect in the game will be sent to the backseat.

A deadly monstrosity wants to join you in the backseat. Juggle your supplies and defend all sides. In this car, there’s only onwards to drive, and nowhere to run.

The Story

The story tackles themes of escapism and a difficult childhood. Your parents can't get along, and you can’t ignore it, no matter how deep you immerse yourself in your game. If only you could get away from it all and escape to somewhere better... And seemingly, the voice in your game says you can.

Hard Mode

Continue the Story in a far more challenging difficulty. One life, faster monster, remixed levels, No mercy.

Challenge Mode

Battle through 8 unique presets (or go fully custom) as you battle many different challenges, from the game's easiest difficulty to it's hardest possible settings. Customize your character, your enemy, and your environment, and see if you can unlock all the hidden lore...
