THE GAME OF LIFE launched on November 3, 2015 and received a handful of post-launch updates through mid-2016. Update 1 (April 4, 2016) added mini-games and UI improvements, and Update 3 (May 24, 2016) added online multiplayer. The May 2016 post mentioned more updates were "in the works," but no further updates were ever published — that promise was not followed through. The developer's attention clearly shifted to a sequel: in November and December 2020, the studio announced and launched THE GAME OF LIFE 2 as a separate Steam title. The original game's store page itself now prominently promotes THE GAME OF LIFE 2 as the successor product. There have been no developer communications about the original game since May 2016, and no DLC or new content has been listed. The game has been stable as a finished digital board game adaptation for many years, with development focus having long since moved to the sequel.
