The Hidden Room

The Hidden Room launched on October 14, 2021 as a free-to-play escape room game. Over the following two years, the developer shipped a series of updates: version 2.0 on September 20, 2022 (which added a Speedrun mode), version 2.1 on April 7, 2023 (controller support and Steam Deck improvements), version 2.2 on June 10, 2023 (the "Puzzle Helper" feature), and finally version 2.2.1 on August 26, 2023. The developer was explicit and consistent about the game's conclusion. As early as September 2022, they signaled that 2.0 would be the last content update. In June 2023, they confirmed V2.2 was "the last content update that The Hidden Room will receive," and in August 2023 they announced that V2.2.1 — a bug-fix patch — was the "last update of this game." The August 26, 2023 post thanked players for two years of support and made clear development had concluded, with the team's full attention turning to their separately released follow-up, The Hidden Room - Pyramid (which launched as its own game on June 6, 2024). The store page now prominently features The Hidden Room - Pyramid, but that is a distinct product. For this game, development is complete as of August 26, 2023, and no further updates have been announced.
