Evaluation
江湖客栈 launched in June 2023 as a free-to-play online multiplayer game built around seasonal resets, premium currency, gacha-style character pools, and battle passes. It ran for seven full seasons over more than two years, with the studio actively adding content throughout.
In September 2025, the developer announced a major pivot: after Season 7 ended in late October 2025, the seasonal server converted to a permanent (non-resetting) server, with an explicit statement that no further major version updates would be made to it. Simultaneously, the studio began work on a spiritual successor, 『我在三国开黑店』 ("I Run a Black Shop in the Three Kingdoms"), which entered Steam Early Access on March 13, 2026 using the same free-to-play model — and offered players a 100–200% refund of money spent on 江湖客栈 as in-game currency in the new title.
On July 29, 2026, the developer published a candid announcement disclosing that the game has been operating at a long-term financial loss. Rather than shut down entirely, they announced plans to migrate to cheaper server infrastructure to reduce operating costs. Due to the volume of data accumulated over three years, all player save data will be wiped as part of this migration, and the server will restart from the Season 5 version of the game. Account data and purchase history will be preserved. The developer framed this as a difficult but necessary step to keep the game running.
The most recent developer communication — a server maintenance update on September 13, 2026 — added minor items to the in-game shop and made balance adjustments, confirming the game is still online. However, this is maintenance-level activity. The studio's active development energy has clearly shifted to the successor project, and no new content for 江湖客栈 has been announced. The game's monetization infrastructure (premium currency, passes, gacha) remains active, but the long-term operational stability of the original game is now openly in question given the disclosed financial difficulties.
Evidence
Developer disclosed the game has been operating at a long-term financial loss. Rather than shut down, they are migrating to cheaper server infrastructure, which will require wiping all player save data and rolling back to Season 5. The studio framed this as a survival measure to keep the game running.
Developer announced the seasonal server would convert to a permanent server after Season 7, with an explicit statement that no further major version updates would be made. Simultaneously announced a spiritual successor game ('我在三国开黑店') with in-game currency refunds offered to 江湖客栈 players.

About this game
******************=Must See Before Buying
Where did this game come from and why was it born? (Here, we need to use the game avatar's bubble style to express it)
The creative inspiration for this work comes from early martial arts writing MUD works and TKF type DMZ games.
The main purpose of the creation is to restore a real world, which is also the biggest reason why the studio has made every effort to develop the work into a multiplayer online mode - people, that is, "people are the world." Instead of using AI to replace real players.

What is the 'real' Jianghu? (Here, we need to use the game avatar's bubble style to express it)
(Using the head portrait of a chieftain here) Since people are the world. So the real world of martial arts must be composed of diverse characters.
In this "river and lake", although high-end resources are occupied by the strong, the weak can still develop in various ways and channels through the cracks, and goji berries make a fortune.
So, there is no distinction between wolves and sheep here. There are only temporarily stronger wolves and those who secretly accumulate strength, but are always ready to conquer - wolves in sheep's clothing.

What can I play in this' Jianghu '?
In this martial arts world, you will be able to play any type of "martial arts person" you can imagine.
A righteous hero who was ultimately assassinated and killed by Lao Liu, fighting against the strong and supporting the weak; Begging for an opening in the market eventually became a generation of beggars beggar; At the beginning, he killed everyone, but in the end, his family fell apart and he became addicted to the "dice craze" at the table; The 'six masters' who have been squatting in the reed marshes of the Ghost Square all year round and plotting against others; Northern merchants who rely on monopolies to resell goods Wait a minute, wait a minute.
In fact, there are still more characters of "people in the Jianghu" that need to be explored and shaped by everyone, such as "ghost market giant", "human trafficker", "thatch king", "bounty killer", "heavy gold escort", "desert merchant", "garbage man", "running knife", "licking bag thief", "brick mover", etc.
