The Karters 2: Turbo Charged entered Steam Early Access on July 17, 2025 and remains firmly in active development. The developer, Pixel Edge Games, has been consistently communicative and has shipped regular updates throughout the Early Access period. A January 15, 2026 development status post laid out the team structure and set clear goals for the year: a full PC release, a simultaneous console launch (PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch), online cross-play, and an in-game track editor. The developer also noted they were exploring an in-game character/vehicle editor and community-made story mode. On April 16, 2026, the developer announced a deliberate shift from weekly patches to larger updates released roughly every 6–8 weeks, explaining this change was to ensure better testing and polish before each release. The first major update under this new schedule shipped on May 27, 2026, bringing full localization support for 14 languages, sweeping track fixes across 15 tracks, and a comprehensive UI overhaul. The most recent update, posted on September 5, 2026 (today), is described as the "BIGGEST UPDATE YET" and delivers significant performance improvements (including Steam Deck 60 FPS support), expanded graphics settings, a redesigned customization flow, improved lobby and online features, and weapon balance changes. This update was specifically mentioned as a target in the April 2026 post, confirming the developer is executing on their stated plan. The game is still flagged as Early Access on Steam, the developer has not announced a 1.0 release date, and major planned features — including the in-game track editor, console releases, and cross-play — have not yet shipped. Development is clearly ongoing and the studio is actively delivering on its roadmap.
