Evaluation
The Kids We Were is a narrative adventure game that was originally released on mobile platforms in February 2020. The Steam version, released on January 12, 2022, is explicitly marketed as the "Complete Edition" — it bundles the full mobile story content alongside a brand-new bonus epilogue episode and additional collection items created specifically for this release. The store description states "If you want the full experience, look no further than this, the Complete Edition!" This makes the Steam release a definitive bundled package with all content included at launch. The only DLC released is an original soundtrack (January 13, 2022), which is supplementary and not story content. Developer activity since launch has been limited to a single Steam Deck compatibility fix on March 20, 2023. There have been no announcements of future content, no unreleased DLC, and no roadmap of any kind. The game shipped as a complete package.

[Story]
Our story begins with Minato arriving in the small town of Kagami, an exceptionally ordinary sort of place in a sleepy suburb of Tokyo.
But there's more to this simple trip than meets the eye. Minato has a secret objective: he intends to find his missing father, who is supposedly living somewhere in the area.
Our young sleuth Minato wastes no time getting started, and soon finds a puzzling clue to his father's whereabouts. A mysterious notebook left for him with the portentous title "The Seven Mysteries."
With this notebook as his guide, Minato sets out on a long and difficult journey, not through space, but through time. For his destination is none other than 33 years in the past—the day his father and mother first met!
