Evaluation

The Left Behind launched on July 27, 2026, developed solo by Justin Jager. The launch underperformed his expectations — he posted a candid release statement on July 28, 2026 acknowledging this — but rather than stepping away, he immediately began working on post-launch improvements based on community feedback. On August 4, 2026, the developer shipped Update 1.0.1, adding a save system for story mode, improved character and zombie movement, AI improvements, performance updates, and several bug fixes. In the same post, he explicitly outlined what is planned for the next update: a map accessible via shortcut, tutorial improvements, changes to the level-up system, and additional visual and feature improvements. He also encouraged players to join the Discord to stay up to date, signaling his intent to continue communicating regularly. This confirms the developer is actively working on the game post-launch and has already communicated a concrete list of upcoming changes. The game is receiving ongoing updates following its release.
