The Living Remain

The Living Remain launched into Early Access on April 5, 2022 and officially graduated to its full 1.0 release on March 27, 2025. The two-person husband-and-wife team at Five Finger Studios has remained consistently active post-launch. At the time of the 1.0 release, the developers stated "this may be the end of Early Access, but it's far from the end of our journey." A February 2025 announcement said they were "already working on another post-release update that will introduce new content," and a May 19, 2025 post reiterated that "new content is in the works" with "big things coming." Since then, the developers have continued to ship updates. A translation/localization overhaul arrived on September 6, 2025. A bug fix and polish patch landed on June 25, 2026. Most recently, on September 11, 2026 — today — they released Update 5, a substantial feature patch introducing a completely reworked dynamic blood and damage system, improved weapon handling, and various quality-of-life improvements. The update post explicitly thanks the community and says their feedback "continues to help us refine the experience and make the game better with every update." The previous evaluation flagged development uncertainty due to silence since September 2025, but that concern is now resolved: the June 2026 and September 2026 updates demonstrate the team is still actively engaged. The May 2025 promise of a "new mode or major content drop" has not yet materialized as a named release, but ongoing post-launch updates indicate the developer is still working on the game. No specific future content has been formally announced at this time, but the sustained update pattern shows Five Finger Studios continues to actively support and improve the game.
