The Ouroboros King launched on February 27, 2023 and received a steady stream of post-launch updates through mid-2023. The developer shipped three meaningful content updates after launch: an Infinity Mode addition in March 2023, a major content drop in May 2023 adding over 20 new units and a Practice Mode, and a localization update in June 2023 that formalized those additions alongside support for eight languages. Since that June 13, 2023 update, the game has received only maintenance-level patches (Steam Deck verification and optimization in October 2024) and a modding beta in February 2025.
The developer's focus has visibly shifted to a new title, Gods vs Horrors, which was announced in June 2024, had a demo release in July 2024, participated in Steam Next Fest in February 2025, and fully launched on May 5, 2025. The developer has not announced any additional content for The Ouroboros King, and the most recent communications about the game have been promotional (a daily deal discount) or peripheral (modding support from a collaborator). There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced roadmap, and no stated plans for further updates. The game's content development appears to have concluded with the June 2023 update.

- Build the Ultimate Army: Combine classic and new fairy chess pieces, relics that give them bonuses, and consumable items that grant you temporary advantages to create a formidable army.
- Perfect Your Strategy: You can only move one piece per turn, so you must choose carefully. Make your troops work together to obliterate the enemy army.
- Another Chance: If you're defeated you can go back to action on another timeline, where the path to victory will change: different map, different enemies, different rewards... in true roguelike spirit.
- Lots of end-game options to dial up the difficulty to insane levels.
