Evaluation
The Pirate's Fate launched on March 27, 2018 as a complete visual novel. Shortly after launch, the developer added several free epilogue updates in response to community feedback (April 2018). The game received one paid expansion, Prisoner of Destiny, which launched on January 4, 2019 and was followed by a content update on January 10, 2019 adding an additional epilogue path, new romances, and a new transformation. That January 10, 2019 post is the last substantive content update on record.
By January 14, 2019, the developer had already pivoted publicly to their next project — announcing a Kickstarter for a new game called Wicked Willow. The artist collaborator (Volkenfox) similarly announced their own new project, State of Flux, via Kickstarter on March 4, 2019. Both key contributors to The Pirate's Fate had moved on to new projects by early 2019. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content for this game, and no developer communications about The Pirate's Fate after March 2019. All four DLC items (the OST, comic, art book, and Prisoner of Destiny expansion) are fully released. The game appears to have been delivered as a complete product, with the final content additions shipping in January 2019.

In The Pirate's Fate, you play as Mila, the newest member of the Dread Pirates. You’ll navigate stormy seas, seedy saloons, and monstrous coves in search of loot. And be warned: you aren’t the only pirates seeking this treasure!
Choices matter
The choices you make alter Mila, the crew, and the story itself. Different plotlines and romances will become available depending on the paths you choose to take. Each plot path changes the relationship dynamics and the composition of your crew, as well as your place within it. Will you become a ruthless, cunning captain, or a diplomatic, peacemaking conciliator?
Your actions will transform the crew, literally
The magical treasure that the Dread Pirates seek is a set of coins that can transform whoever holds them; to let them “become what they seek." They might change in age, appearance, gender, personality, and species—and even rewrite their own past! There are over thirty-five unique transformations among the main cast, many of which showcase non-traditional body types and presentations.

There are many ways to fall in love in The Pirate’s Fate.
