The Secret of Retropolis

The Secret of Retropolis launched on July 21, 2021 as a complete VR point-and-click adventure game. Following launch, the developer shipped a handful of post-launch patches: a major languages update in September 2022, bug fixes in March and May 2023, and a small feature patch in June 2023 (version 0.7) that added Italian localization and a link to the sequel's Early Access page. The studio's energy has clearly shifted toward a sequel. As early as August 2021, developer Peanut Button acknowledged player demand for a longer follow-up game and hinted at future Retropolis projects. In November 2021, they confirmed they were working on "more than just one sequel." By January 2023, they formally announced Retropolis 2: Never Say Goodbye, and in February 2023 released a trailer for it. The June 2023 patch for the original game even added a direct in-game link to the sequel's Early Access page on Steam — a strong signal that the original game's update cycle was wrapping up in favor of supporting the new title. The last post of any kind for this game was the June 14, 2023 patch (version 0.7). There are no unreleased DLC listings, no announced future content for this game, and no developer roadmap pointing to anything further. The original game shipped as a self-contained story, and all post-launch activity consisted of localization and maintenance patches rather than story expansions. The developer's stated intent to build a sequel series confirms the original is treated as a finished product.
