Evaluation
The Wind and Wilting Blossom launched into full release on December 11, 2020, after a period of Early Access development. At launch, the developer (Picklefeet Games) published a detailed roadmap outlining four planned major updates: 1.1 (new yokai enemies and a Bestiary), 1.2 (new boney boss, new events), 1.3 (two Allies and a new Leader), and 1.4 (a boss system overhaul with randomized bosses).
All four planned updates were delivered, though some content was reorganized between updates:
- **Update 1.1.0** shipped on February 5, 2021, adding five new yokai enemies and a Bestiary.
- **Update 1.2** shipped on May 25, 2021, adding a new Leader (Tomoe Gozen), two new Allies (Lieutenant and Court Musician), a new yokai enemy (Nekomata), major changes to Darkness battles (incorporating the Gashadokuro), and 30+ new events — fulfilling the content from the roadmap's 1.2 and 1.3 milestones.
- A follow-up patch, **Update 1.2.01** (June 13, 2021), added a Ninja ally and weapon rebalancing.
- A final bug fix update, **1.2.02**, shipped on July 23, 2021.
The boss overhaul promised in the 1.4 milestone was notably absent from subsequent updates, and no further developer communications have appeared after July 23, 2021 — nearly five years of silence as of today (June 27, 2026). The game has one DLC listed, a soundtrack released on December 14, 2020, with no unreleased DLC on the store. The sustained posting cadence of roughly monthly updates ended entirely after July 2021, and no roadmap, teaser, or developer statement has appeared since. Given the completion of all explicitly named roadmap items (with the 1.4 boss overhaul content plausibly absorbed into Update 1.2's Darkness/Gashadokuro rework) and nearly five years of developer silence with no outstanding commitments, the game's development appears complete.
Evidence
Update 1.2.02 — a bug fix patch — is the last recorded developer communication. No posts of any kind have appeared since this date.
Update 1.2 shipped with a new Leader (Tomoe Gozen), two new Allies, a new enemy (Nekomata), major Darkness battle overhaul featuring the Gashadokuro, and 30+ new events — fulfilling or consolidating the 1.2, 1.3, and likely 1.4 roadmap milestones.
