Evaluation

This Magical Girl is a B☆tch is a free-to-play comedic visual novel that launched Act 2 on October 25, 2024, following an original Act 1 release. The game is structured as a multi-act episodic story, and the developer (Pastel Magic) has explicitly stated that Act 3 — and a full complete version of the game — is still coming. In an announcement post on October 21, 2024, director Belle confirmed that work on the rest of the game was ongoing, noting that Act 3 alone was already at 300+ sprites, and the combined word count of the remaining acts was approximately 60,000 words. The developer acknowledged the release timeline was being adjusted to ensure a sustainable development pace, but reaffirmed the promise to release the full game. Act 2 launched on October 25, 2024, followed by a bug-fix patch on October 26, 2024. Since that patch on October 26, 2024, there have been no further public communications from the developer. Given that Act 3 was explicitly promised and work was described as actively underway, the absence of any updates since October 26, 2024 is a concern — particularly since the developer had previously maintained communication through the development of Act 2. The full game has not been delivered, and no new timeline or status update has been shared.
