Evaluation

Three Kingdoms: Alias launched into Steam Early Access on July 14, 2026. The solo developer (Plotrick) has been highly active since launch, shipping a rapid series of feature and bug-fix updates through version 0.5.10, while simultaneously working on the next major milestone: v0.6.0. The developer published a detailed roadmap on July 29, 2026 (Developer Note #2) outlining two large pillars for v0.6.0: a complete overhaul of the domestic administration system and a full rebuilding of the combat system. Developer Notes #3 (August 19, 2026), #4 (September 7, 2026), and #5 (September 22, 2026) have provided ongoing progress updates on both systems. The new combat system introduces simultaneous turns, a fog-of-war information layer, terrain effects, and a full supply chain — described by the developer as "close to making an entirely new game" in terms of scope. The new administration system replaces the old institution structure with a facility-based city management system, a tech tree, officer training schools, and a mentorship system. Beyond v0.6.0, the developer has stated that custom officer creation, an in-game officer editor, and a historical mode are planned for the full 1.0 release. As of September 22, 2026 — the most recent developer communication — v0.6.0 is still in active development with no release date announced. The developer has given no indication of slowing down or encountering difficulties.
Evidence
Developer Note #5 shows GIFs of the in-progress v0.6.0 combat system (field battles, supply lines, siege mechanics), confirming continued active development as of September 22, 2026.

About this game

Convinced he was Guan Yu, you made him governor. ...It was Lü Bu.

A Three Kingdoms strategy sim where you deduce your officers

Personnel, warfare, governance, diplomacy, espionage, duels...

Everything you expect from a turn-based Three Kingdoms strategy game.

One thing is different — officers use “aliases”.

A Blind Talent Market feat. Mafia

You don’t know your officers’ real names. Stats and loyalty only reveal themselves through investigation. You paid three visits to recruit a genius — it was Xiahou Mao. The governor you posted on the front line? Meng Da, of all people. Pang Tong might be managing farms in the rear. Do you have the eye to see real talent?

A Different World Every Run feat. Roguelike

Each game starts in a random city with a random draft of officers. This run, Zhang Liao showed up — but not a single civil officer in sight. This run, Ma Chao appeared — great, except you’re playing Cao Cao. Maybe next run you’ll land Chengdu or Jianye as your capital. You lucked into Luoyang — but Cao Cao, Sun Ce, and Lü Bu are your neighbors...

...Just start another run.

The real strategy simulation for Three Kingdoms devotees — Three Kingdoms : Alias.
