Evaluation

Tile Cities launched on May 5, 2022 and received a small round of post-launch patches through October 12, 2022, adding quality-of-life features like a dark mode, custom color themes, additional localizations, and minor bug fixes. After that final patch, developer activity on this title effectively wound down. There is only one major content release in the post history and no announced future content for Tile Cities itself. Notably, by September–October 2024, the developer publicly shifted focus to a sequel: a September 24, 2024 post announced that Tile Cities 2 was nearing completion and entering closed alpha testing, followed by an October 31, 2024 post opening Tile Cities 2 for wishlisting on Steam. These communications confirm the developer has moved on to a successor product rather than continuing to develop the original game. The original Tile Cities appears to have shipped as a complete, self-contained puzzle game with no further content planned.
