Evaluation

Tostchu launched on October 28, 2024, and Ravenscape Collective has been actively updating it post-launch. The developer published a detailed roadmap on November 11, 2024, outlining planned additions including new endings, more events, additional TV and cassette content, and quality-of-life changes. They then systematically delivered on those promises: Content Update 1 (January 10, 2025) added TV episodes, cassette collectibles, and control bindings; Content Update 1.1 (March 13, 2025) added remaining TV subtitles and localization; Content Update 1.2 (September 26, 2025) overhauled the interaction system, expanded dialogue, and improved gamepad support; and Content Update 1.3 (October 27, 2025) added new random customers and further dialogue variety. This amounts to six major content releases across roughly one year, establishing an update cadence of approximately every 1–4 months. Today's date is October 1, 2026 — approximately 11 months since the most recent major content release on October 27, 2025. The established cadence between updates has ranged from about 1 to 7 months (the longest gap being between Content Update 1.2 in September 2025 and the prior update in March 2025 — about 6.5 months). At 11 months of silence, we are now beyond the longest observed gap between releases. However, the developer noted in November 2024 that they "don't want to spend the rest of our lives working on Tostchu" while also listing additional aspirational features (controller support, platform ports, tea-making, etc.) without firm commitments. There has been no announcement that development has concluded. Given that the outer bound of the cadence window has been reached but the developer has neither announced completion nor announced new content, the pattern of sustained post-launch updates still reflects a meaningful ongoing development history — the silence is approaching but has not clearly crossed a decisive threshold. The game continues to receive no specific future content announcement, but no wrap-up statement has been made either.

About this game

90s Turkey, your father owns a toast shop in a desolate rural area stopover. He has given you the duty of keeping the business running while he is away. Mysterious events unfold while you prepare toasts based on the customers' requests...

In Tostchu, you assume the role of a temporary manager of a toast buffet and you have to manage this buffet during a series of late evenings when the toast shop receives the most customers. You are confined to the buffet throughout the game, which consists of a small living area, a walk-in refrigerator, and a service area. Every day open the shop's shutter and prepare toasts for the customers, earn money, close the shutter, and order new ingredients for the next day with your hard-earned money. It is as simple as that!

During the game, you may witness some mysterious happenings surrounding the buffet and its local, through the conversations with the customers, through your humble radio and television, or with your own eyes.

  • Randomized events and customer orders

  • Detailed toast-making system with temperature and rot
