Evaluation
Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia launched on September 22, 2023 as a complete dungeon-crawler RPG. Since launch, the solo developer (Bar Holographic Otaku) has released a consistent stream of feature-adding patches that go well beyond simple maintenance: version 1.1 (September 26, 2023) added balance changes and quality-of-life improvements; version 1.2 (November 22, 2023) added 24 new skills, new Sleepers, a New Game+ mode, and gameplay system changes; version 1.3 (June 27, 2024) added new Youkai Grimoires, a new in-game location, and screen filter options; version 1.4 (November 27, 2024) added Steam Workshop and custom dungeon support; and version 1.5 (July 3, 2025) added four new localizations (Traditional Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Korean) along with controller icon support and additional screen filter options. This establishes a sustained pattern of meaningful updates roughly every 6–8 months. As of October 1, 2026, the last update was on July 3, 2025 — approximately 15 months ago. The historical interval between major patches has ranged from a few days to about 8 months, so 15 months does push past the established cadence window. However, the developer has made no announcement that updates are finished, and the pattern has never included a "final update" statement. The only DLC listed is the soundtrack, released at launch. No specific future content has been announced, but neither has any conclusion of development been communicated.
Evidence
Version 1.5 patch added four new localizations, controller icon support, and additional screen filter options — the most recent developer communication and content update.
Version 1.4 added Steam Workshop and custom dungeon support, a significant new feature.

About this game
Sumireko Usami is not a normal high-schooler at all. She is so abnormal that even the fantasy land of Gensokyo considers her an anomaly. Truth is, she can visit Gensokyo in her dreams!

Artificial Dream in Arcadia is a first person dungeon crawler where the player, as Sumireko, has to navigate tricky mazes and capture a party of the strongest Touhou characters to assist them in turn-based battles. Go all over Gensokyo and beyond, to solve an incident which seems a little too convenient for Sumireko, seeing as she's the only person in Gensokyo who has a tool to control this infestation of clones: her newly-bought smartphone.
If you win, you can add them to your party, or turn them into useful items! You can also fuse multiple Sleepers together to make something new entirely.
Adding Sleepers to your party will increase battery usage. If your phone runs out of battery charge, you will lose access to Sleepers and your Map, so always come prepared!

A set of desktop wallpapers is included with the game. You can find them in \Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia\wallpapers.

Clones are roaming the lands! They are known as Sleepers and take the shape of established Touhou characters, and as such, almost every Touhou character is represented and playable. Sumireko's phone is equipped with a special app that allows her to capture Sleepers by beating them in a round of Danmaku. If you win, you can add them to your party, or turn them into useful items!
