Touhou Mystery Reel entered Steam Early Access on February 13, 2022 as a work-in-progress game. The developer was active in the days following launch, posting several patches and adjustments through February 2022. On October 1, 2022, a meaningful update (version 0.4.101) was released, adding the game's second stage and explicitly stating that "more stages are WIP." That October 1, 2022 post is the last communication from the developer on record.
The game has remained in Early Access ever since, with no 1.0 release, no further patches, and no developer posts of any kind since October 1, 2022 — a silence of over three and a half years. The promised additional stages were never delivered or mentioned again. There is no indication from the developer about whether development is continuing, paused, or abandoned. Given the length of silence and the undelivered content promises, the status of this game's ongoing development is deeply uncertain.
