Trials of Innocence launched on March 25, 2025, as a courtroom detective game. Shortly after launch, the developer (C&D Games) added two free interlude chapters on May 9, 2025, which had been promised at release. The studio experienced a significant setback mid-2025 when the game was taken down from Steam due to a DMCA dispute. On September 9, 2025, the developer confirmed the game had returned to the store after nearly two months offline. They described the financial toll this took on the small studio — lost sales, missed payment cycles, and a halted outsourcing contract — but made clear they intended to continue operating. On January 23, 2026, the developer announced a crowdfunding campaign (available in China only) to fund a DLC. On March 10, 2026, they confirmed the crowdfunding was successful and that DLC development is now officially underway. They estimate the DLC will take approximately 1 to 1.5 years to complete, launching first in Simplified Chinese with English and Japanese versions to follow. The developer also noted that a comprehensive base game patch will be released alongside the DLC. The developer separately announced a new smaller-scale project called After-State: Wolong Vs. Deduction, expected in the second half of 2026, and confirmed it will not impact DLC progress for Trials of Innocence. The only DLC currently listed on the store is the soundtrack (released March 26, 2025). The paid story DLC does not yet have a store listing but has been firmly committed to by the developer following successful crowdfunding.
