Evaluation

Understand launched on October 30, 2020 and received active post-launch development through early 2021, including new chapters (Chapter 11 in November 2020, Chapter 12 in late December/early January, and Chapter "-" in January 2021) along with several bug fix and feature patches. On January 27, 2021, the developer posted a development status update explicitly stating they had decided to "set aside Understand for a while" to rest and explore new game prototypes, while noting they still had "a few concepts for Understand's new chapters" they might revisit someday. This marked the effective end of active development on the game. In July 2021, the developer confirmed they were working on a new game (A=B, a programming puzzle game), and mentioned that "a new chapter for Understand is on my to-do list" — to be started after the esolang game was finished. A=B was announced in September 2021 and released by November 2021. However, no chapter update for Understand ever materialized following those statements, and there have been no developer communications about Understand since November 2021 (a save slot feature patch that also promoted A=B's launch). The last substantive update to the game itself was the save slots feature added on November 15, 2021. No new chapters, no roadmap, and no further announcements have appeared since then. The developer's own studio moved on to A=B as their primary focus, and the vague promise of future Understand chapters was never fulfilled with any concrete announcement or release. With no unreleased DLC listed, no outstanding commitments, and developer communications having ceased by November 2021, the game is considered complete.
Evidence
Developer announced they are setting Understand aside to rest and work on new prototypes, with only a vague possibility of returning to add new chapters someday.
