Unrailed! launched on September 23, 2020 and received one major content update after launch: the Underwater Update on March 13, 2023, which added a new biome, cross-play for Time Mode, and various improvements. A companion soundtrack DLC for that update was released on March 15, 2023. Since then, the developer's attention has visibly shifted to the sequel: Unrailed 2: Back on Track was announced on November 30, 2023 and launched in Early Access on November 11, 2024. Post-March 2023 updates to the original game have been limited to minor feature patches and bug fixes (such as the December 2023 patch that added a giraffe character as a crossover nod to Unrailed 2, and a July 2025 fix for Steam Deck/macOS compatibility). No new biomes, modes, or major content have been announced or shipped for the original game since the Underwater Update. With only one major post-launch content release across the game's history, there is no sustained cadence of expansions to indicate more is coming, and the developer's creative energy is now clearly directed at the sequel. The original Unrailed! appears to have reached the end of its content development as of the Underwater Update in March 2023, with subsequent patches being maintenance-only.
