Evaluation

Untamed Kingdom entered Steam Early Access on February 27, 2026, developed by Shadow Stalk Studios LLC. The team has maintained an active and consistent development pace since launch, with regular feature patches and major updates shipping throughout 2026. The Version Two milestone on May 22, 2026 was a significant restructuring update, reducing the playable animal roster to four fully polished animals (Mule Deer, Moose, Wolf, and Tiger) with an explicit developer commitment to releasing roughly two new animals bi-weekly or monthly until the full roster is complete. The Alligator was named as a near-term addition. The most recent major update, released August 1, 2026, is described by the developer as "one of our biggest updates yet," introducing the Knock Down System, Body Temperature System, Adrenaline System, a new Ability System, Scent System, Territory System, Dens, Photo Mode, full controller support, and more. In that same post, the developer explicitly outlined what comes next: expanding the Ability System with more unlockable abilities, unique vocal calls, hides, new combat mechanics, and additional species-specific gameplay. In total, the developer has shipped at least two named major updates and eight or more feature patches since the February 2026 Early Access launch, showing a very active studio. The game is clearly mid-development, with the developer openly working toward a complete animal roster, a fully built-out ability system, and continued ecosystem improvements.
