Veneficium

Veneficium is a free-to-play survival-horror game that was originally a university student project by a team at UQAT & UdeM. It launched on March 12, 2021 and received a small wave of bug-fix patches through March 22, 2021. In the launch-week post on March 15, 2021, the developer was transparent about the game's origins and future: it was built as a school project by a team of roughly a dozen people, and with their Bachelor's degrees now complete, most of the team was dispersing to find professional work. The developer explicitly stated: "any possible continuation is going to have to be abandoned." The patches that followed in the days after that post (March 17–22) addressed the known bugs mentioned in that same post, consistent with wrapping up the project. No further developer communications have been made after March 22, 2021. There are no unreleased DLC, no announced expansions, and no roadmap. The developer directly told players that further development was not possible. This game shipped as a finished — if scope-limited — product and has been complete since its final patch.
