Evaluation

VIDEOVERSE launched on August 7, 2023 as a complete narrative adventure game. Since launch, the developer (Kinmoku, a solo developer) has shipped several meaningful updates: the Drawing Update (1.2) on approximately August 7, 2024, which added a gallery, additional drawing opportunities, and UI polish; and a major Update 1.4 on November 14, 2025, which added Japanese localisation, controller-friendly UI, artwork improvements, and brought the game to consoles (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox). Smaller bug fix and polish patches have continued through April 2026. In a January 8, 2025 developer post, Kinmoku stated that work on VIDEOVERSE was continuing (specifically the Japanese localisation) but that their primary focus was shifting to a new, smaller project. The April 27, 2026 post announcing Steam Deck verification closes with a direct message pointing players toward Kinmoku's next game, "Ace & Aro: Heart-to-Heart," with gratitude "for all your love and support of VIDEOVERSE over the years" — language that reads as a warm conclusion to the game's support cycle. No future content has been announced for VIDEOVERSE. The sole DLC (the Original Soundtrack) released in September 2023 and no unreleased DLC is listed. The developer has not explicitly stated "no more updates," but the combination of the next-project pivot announced in January 2025, the console launch completing the game's platform rollout in November 2025, and the April 2026 post directing attention to the next game all strongly indicate that VIDEOVERSE's content development is complete. The November 14, 2025 update represents the most plausible endpoint for substantive new content.
