Villain's Legacy launched on Steam on December 13, 2022 and received several substantial content updates over the following two years. The developer shipped a major content update in May 2023, followed by further updates through 2024. On November 8, 2024, the developer released version 3.0 — the final release of the game — and explicitly stated: "This is the final release of the game," marking the end of active development. This is a direct developer statement confirming the game is complete. No further updates to Villain's Legacy have been posted since that date. The developer has since moved on to a sequel, Villain's Legacy 2, which launched in November 2025.
