Virtual Interactive Fireplace launched as a free-to-play cozy simulation on November 24, 2024. The solo developer moved quickly after launch: the Christmas Decor DLC shipped on November 27, 2024, a full Decor System was introduced on November 26, 2024 (described as a "foundation for many more decorative items coming in future updates"), and the Cats DLC followed on December 11, 2024. Further patches arrived through December 2024, and then again in May 2025 with UI improvements (May 13), Japanese language support (May 16), and a performance optimization update (May 23, 2025) — the latter explicitly noting "more updates to come." That May 23, 2025 post is the last developer communication on record. Prior to that point, the developer had maintained a consistent pattern of posts roughly every few weeks to months. As of September 24, 2026, there has been no further update, patch, announcement, or communication of any kind in over 16 months. The developer previously signaled ongoing plans — including hints at future Decor System content and the fire timer added in December 2024 described as groundwork for upcoming features — but none of those commitments have been followed through with any visible update or explanation. The extended silence, against a backdrop of explicit promises for more content, raises meaningful uncertainty about whether development is continuing.
