Evaluation
Wave Beta has been shut down and removed from Steam. On January 15, 2021, the developer (WaveVR, Inc.) published an official statement announcing the permanent shutdown of the VR application, effective at the end of March 2021. The CEO explained that the company had pivoted away from VR two years prior, and that the underlying infrastructure (built on Google Poly, which was also shutting down) could not be maintained given the team's limited resources. The store page itself now opens with a prominent notice confirming: "Wave Beta has shut down." The game is no longer purchasable on Steam.

"Wave is the first VR experience that captures the excitement of a live performance in a totally original way. While many people are chasing an emulation of a nightclub, Wave is pioneering an entirely new compelling platform that is playful, social, and fun to use.”
- Morgan Page
