waxweaver is a free sandbox RPG about a square planet that launched on April 10, 2025. The developer shipped two major updates after launch: v1.2 on June 1, 2025, which added new game modes, permadeath, creative mode, an armor stand, and new fishing and crafting items, and v1.3 on September 20, 2025, which added experimental multiplayer that the developer described as rough, with missing features and unsynced enemies. A bug-fix patch followed on September 23, 2025. In a May 12, 2025 post, the original developer said the game would not receive the long-term support of games like Terraria or Minecraft, that v1.2 might be the last update, and that remaining planned changes would be small. The newest post, dated October 9, 2026, is from Brandon, who now maintains the game. He says cloud saves are enabled and a native macOS port is underway, and that the goal is to leave waxweaver as it is while improving accessibility, with mods left to the community. He also says he will keep supporting the game as long as people keep playing, but the work he describes is platform, accessibility, and open-source work rather than new game content. The last major content update arrived on September 20, 2025.
