Evaluation

Welcome to Doll Town launched on February 20, 2026, after a brief delay caused by Steam's submission review process. The solo developer confirmed at launch that the game was fully finished. Two patches shipped in the days immediately after launch (versions 1.01 and 1.02) to address camera, display, softlock, and various gameplay issues. On April 23, 2026, the developer announced a substantial update in the works, describing plans for a new Factory story arc, a free DLC side quest, a new game mechanic, additional enemies and bosses, new explorable areas in Doll Town, collectibles, and the return of a minimap. No release date was given but the developer stated they were "heavily working on it." Most recently, on July 24, 2026, the developer posted again with further news: in response to community feedback and social backlash, they decided to rebuild the entire project from scratch in order to deliver "the best possible experience." They have been actively sharing progress on their Discord for roughly four months and attached a video showcasing many new upgrades, systems, and story elements. The developer stated they hope to "Welcome you (back?) to Doll Town soon," but again gave no specific release date for this overhaul. This is a solo-developed indie game, and the developer has been actively and publicly engaged with the project throughout 2026. Anyone waiting for the full, updated version of the game should hold off — a significant rebuild and content expansion is confirmed to be coming, just without a firm timeline.

About this game

Once a bustling village known for its exquisite handcrafted dolls, Doll Town now rots in silence and shadows. Abandoned factories, empty schools, and forgotten shrines are all that remain—haunted by memories of the students who perished here years ago.

In this short story, you play as Yumi, a student who takes a part-time job at the town’s only convenience store, unknowingly stepping into a nightmare that refuses to stay buried. As the line between reality and dream dissolves, Yumi must uncover the truth behind the deaths, the cursed dolls, and the macabre love story that destroyed the town.

Third-Person Exploration

Navigate abandoned streets, school corridors, and peculiar places where every corner hides secrets—or threats.

Atmospheric Horror

A nightmarish blend of rural Japan’s quiet beauty and suffocating dread.

Unravel the Mystery

Piece together the fate of the students and the chilling love story at the town’s heart.

Tense Storytelling

Experience a slow-burn descent into horror, where nothing is what it seems.

Immersive Ambience

Horizontal cinematic scenes and environmental storytelling draw you deeper into the tragedy.

A town built on dolls.
A love that ended in blood.
And a curse that won’t let go.

Welcome to Doll Town.
