Wild West Legacy (originally released as Wild West Dynasty) graduated from Early Access to its 1.0 release on August 22, 2024. At launch, the developer explicitly stated "we are not stopping" and committed to continued content and enhancements. Since the 1.0 launch, the game has received a consistent stream of updates: a major Ranch Hands feature update on October 24, 2024 overhauling livestock and settlement management; multiple hotfixes and balance patches through November 2024; a substantial beta branch feature update on April 11, 2025 adding housing management, new cooking recipes, horse naming, and quality-of-life improvements; and a significant update on March 13, 2026 that brought the game to consoles alongside a large PC patch adding new features and extensive fixes. On March 20, 2026, the developer published a community note explaining a rebranding: the game was renamed from Wild West Dynasty to Wild West Legacy to better reflect its direction and distance it from the Dynasty franchise. The developer framed this as a positive evolution, thanking the community and highlighting ongoing improvements. The most recent developer communication was a bug fix patch on March 30, 2026. That is approximately six months before today's date of October 8, 2026 — right at the edge of the established silence threshold. However, the March 2026 console launch represents a substantial recent milestone, and the developer has shown consistent engagement with multiple update types across the post-launch period. No announcement concluding development has been made. The pattern of updates (major feature patches roughly every few months, with bug fixes in between) places the current period within a reasonable continuation of that cadence, though another update would help confirm continued engagement.

BUILDING A LIFE

You might start by just building a simple house for yourself. But before you know it, you have to manage a full settlement with inhabitants and their needs and of course the required resources to progress. And don’t forget to decorate the buildings with a huge number of craftable items and furniture. DIY has never been this easy.

Blistering cold nights, searing midday sun, seasonal changes and even wild animals: Surviving the frontier is not easy. Make sure you have everything you need to withstand whatever nature throws at you, from clothes to shelter there are many ways you can make sure you live to see another day.
