Wild Woods entered Early Access on December 9, 2024 and remains an explicitly unfinished game under active development by the three-to-four-person team at Octofox Games.
Since launch, the game has received five major updates: Patch 0.1.0 (January 20, 2025) added the Ranged Fighter role and an experimental Endless Mode; Patch 0.1.2 (April 14, 2025) added the Herbalist role; Patch 0.2.0 (September 8, 2025) added Save Games and Hotjoin multiplayer; Patch 0.3.0 (March 9, 2026) delivered the third biome, Snowsickle Peaks, with a new boss and enemy variants; Patch 0.4.0 (May 12, 2026) added Upgrade Pack I with new character and wagon upgrades; and Patch 0.5.0 (July 14, 2026) introduced the Guardian, a new playable character role combining tank and support functions.
The developer published a 2026 roadmap on March 31, 2026 laying out the remaining planned milestones for the year: additional Upgrade Packs, a New Character Role (now fulfilled by the Guardian), Story Collectibles (lore-revealing collectibles to be added step by step), and Meta Progression (described as the big goal for the end of the year). The most recent developer communication on July 29, 2026 confirms the team is continuing work on meta progression — including a perks system — and a larger rebalance of enemy scaling and the fire/night system. They noted they will be taking a summer vacation but explicitly stated they will continue with meta progression and rebalancing afterward.
With the roadmap's Story Collectibles and Meta Progression milestones still undelivered as of July 2026, and the developer actively communicating about ongoing work, this game has substantial planned content ahead of it before it would be considered complete.

Clever cooperation is key as their way is full of obstacles. While daytime is all about collecting resources and improving your trusty wagon, things get risky during the night. When the sun sets, bandit bunnies and badgers rally to attack! The feline friends must defend their wagon while ensuring their beacon fire does not die out.
During their journey players must consider how they want to approach the dangers of each adventure. Extra rewards await if they decide to go for challenging encounters! Will you keep stacking challenges to try and go for the biggest prize?
On the other hand, going a safer route might allow for more risk-free collection of resources. Discover the thrill of choosing your own level of risk — it's all part of the adventure.
Each journey has its own course and it is up to you to make wise decisions accordingly.
Play the way you want to. Multiplayer sessions in Wild Woods can be played locally, fully online, or with a mix of local and online players! Using the Remote Play Together feature, you can simulate local play even if your friends are in faraway places.
Chase new high scores with your friends and, while you are playing, unlock new skins for your favorite band of cats!
