Evaluation

Wizardry Variants Daphne launched on March 5, 2025 and has been operating as a continuously updated live-service game ever since. The 49 developer posts scanned include 14 major content updates, 15 feature patches, and 12 bug-fix patches — a very high volume of activity for a game barely a year and a half old. The most recent update (Ver 1.34.10) was posted on August 13, 2026 — today — and introduces a new timed login event running through September 10, 2026. The prior update (Ver 1.34.0, July 30, 2026) launched a cross-collaboration event featuring characters from another franchise with associated gacha-style "Moldy Scroll" acquisition, limited-time mission passes for purchase, and time-limited economic coupons. This pattern repeats consistently across the earlier posts as well. The game's structure is built around a monetized live-service loop: purchasable Mission Passes tied to each limited-time event, a rotating gacha currency system for recruiting characters, in-game currency ("Gems of Org") sold through the Jeweler, and recurring campaign bonuses that cycle on a roughly bi-weekly basis. This is not a game designed to reach a content endpoint — new events, characters, dungeons, and systems are delivered on an ongoing cadence with no sign of slowing. The developer has made no statement about concluding content support.

About this game

Wizardry Variants Daphne carries on the lineage of the classic RPG series, Wizardry. The portal to the labyrinth of despair, where even destruction is pleasure, has opened once again.

■ Story

Once every 100 years, the Abyss opens.
It is a curse of death that consumes the continent. A Warlock who coveted Death, devoured people and animals and enveloped the world in despair.
Inheriting the power to seal the Abyss over generations, kings have continued to protect the kingdom from its curse.
But now, the king has vanished, and the world is being consumed by death, moment by moment.
Resistance itself is meaningless.
There is naught but to perish.
