Evaluation

Wizdom Academy has been in Early Access since April 17, 2025 and continues to receive substantial updates. Since the previous evaluation, two significant things have happened: the developer announced a firm 1.0 launch date, and another major update shipped. On September 23, 2026, Kipwak Studio announced that Wizdom Academy will officially leave Early Access and launch as version 1.0 on November 16, 2026. The announcement celebrates more than a year of Early Access development and describes the 1.0 release as "a major milestone." On October 2, 2026 (today), update 0.9.0 — "The Legacy Update" — shipped. This major update reworks the Legacy system, adds new progression content, introduces new mana infrastructure, and delivers a wide range of visual and UI improvements. Crucially, the update post explicitly names two significant features that are still in development and not yet included: a full rework of all four maps (with new layouts, modifiers, and map-specific events), and the Headmaster's Tower (a new floor-based customization and specialization system). Both are described as planned for a future update ahead of the 1.0 release. The game has received consistent, substantial updates throughout its Early Access period — major system overhauls, new mechanics, balance passes, and quality-of-life improvements arriving roughly every one to three months. The April 2026 announcement of a French-Swiss co-production partnership with Lake On Fire brought additional team resources to the project. The development trajectory is active and clearly heading toward the announced November 16, 2026 launch.
Evidence
Update 0.9.0 ships the Legacy system rework and new content, but explicitly names two major features still in development for a future update before 1.0: a full map rework with map modifiers, and the Headmaster's Tower customization system.

About this game

Step into the role of Headmaster and build your wizarding academy from the ground up. Design every room, recruit students from across the world, send professors on expeditions, and manage everything from mana reserves to staff ultimatums, all while the Directorium keeps a close eye on your results.

Stack new floors, place classrooms and corridors, decorate your halls and choose what is taught where. Zoom out and watch your academy take shape: towers, courtyards, lecture halls and secret passages. No two academies look alike, and every layout changes how your school performs.

Recruit students from across the world and watch them grow over time. They come back to study, evolve with each decision you make, and accumulate traits that define who they become. With over 100 unique traits to assign and more than 50 Destinies to unlock, every student follows a different path through your academy.

Watch out for the pranks. Students want to enjoy academy life. The Directorium wants results. Keeping everyone satisfied while answering to their demands is the real challenge, a double pressure that never lets up.

Your students do not just pass through. They come back. You watch them progress from their first lesson to their final exam, make decisions that shape their path, and see the consequences play out over time.

The best graduates stay on as teachers, training the next generation. The faculty you build becomes the backbone of your academy, and the school you shape today produces the wizards of tomorrow.

Gather glyphite, shards and golem cores, earn learning points, and spend them across a comprehensive tech tree with hundreds of upgrades to discover. Every technology you unlock changes how your academy runs: new room types, more efficient staff, deeper student progression.

Meanwhile you answer to the Directorium's emissary, manage your staff's demands, and compete with rival academies for influence in the villages around you. Prioritise the wrong thing and the whole school starts to crack.

Key features:

  • Build floor by floor: stack floors, design every room, and make an academy that is truly yours

  • Shape every student: guide apprentices from first year to graduation, then keep the best as teachers

  • Survive mana crises: droughts, blackouts and worse will test your school’s resilience

  • Expand your influence: send professors to distant villages and compete with rival academies

  • Manage a living staff: ultimatums, promises, resignations. Your people have demands

  • Deal with the Directorium: its emissary travels to your school, inspects it and collects taxes

Wizdom Academy is for you if you love:

  • Builder and management sims with creative freedom (Timberborn, Spellcaster University, Two Point Campus)

  • Growing a community of characters with unique traits, aspirations and Destinies to discover

  • Juggling resources, crises and rival schools in a fantasy world

  • Building something that feels genuinely yours
