Xmas Apocalypse

Xmas Apocalypse launched on December 15, 2022 and has received consistent annual content updates ever since. A major content update (v1.1) shipped on December 14, 2023, adding a new weapon, character, enemies, a boss, achievements, and more. The developer then continued working toward a second annual update for 2024/2025. On December 24, 2025, the developer announced an upcoming update featuring a new map called "Santa's Cursed Workshop," a new player character, and various bug fixes. However, development ran longer than expected. On March 12, 2026, the developer posted a detailed status update explaining that the new map, while largely playable with two boss encounters and new enemies, still needed more testing, polishing, and finishing touches. A technical issue with Unity's save file serialization had also caused additional delays. Rather than rush the map out in spring — which the developer noted doesn't fit the seasonal nature of the game — they decided to postpone it to Christmas 2026. As a goodwill gesture, the March 2026 update (v1.1.8) still delivered meaningful new content: a new playable character (Robo-Santa S-800) with a unique drone-strike skill card, a new melee spin attack available to all characters, and several quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. The developer has been transparent throughout, maintaining an annual update cadence and explicitly communicating that the new map is still coming — just delayed to the next holiday season. There is no sign of abandonment; the most recent developer communication was March 12, 2026, and the postponed map remains an active commitment.
