Yandere Virus launched on September 20, 2026 after two development delays — originally targeting August 18, then September 8, and finally September 21 (the game shipped a day early). The developer (Moka Sphere) conducted a Final Playtest before launch and stated in the August 24, 2026 delay announcement that all game content was complete, with the delay used solely for multiplayer stabilization. Since launch, the developer has been actively patching: versions 1.0.4 through 1.0.9 shipped across the first four days, addressing multiplayer reconnection, adding random matchmaking, improving graphics settings, adding a pumpkin-throwing mechanic, and adjusting balance. On September 21, 2026, an apology post committed to continued bug fixing and stability work. Crucially, in a September 24, 2026 developer post summarizing the first four days of updates, Moka Sphere explicitly stated they are "planning new content that will let you uncover the hidden stories of characters infected with the Yandere Virus," with more news to be shared as development progresses. This is a clear developer announcement of future content, moving the game beyond a recently-launched-with-no-known-plans status. All eleven DLC listings are released — nine cosmetic player avatar packs that launched September 21, 2026, plus the demo and final playtest. No paid content or expansion pass has been announced; the upcoming content appears to be narrative in nature, though no delivery format or timing has been specified yet.
